How it works:

The 2026/2027 Read-A-Thon is a fun event running from February 12–26, 2025, designed to encourage students to read, with all proceeds supporting school programs and resources.
Before the Read-A-Thon begins, families will receive instructions to activate a reader's personal page to track their child's reading progress and fundraising efforts. Families are encouraged to keep an eye out for more details. For questions or to volunteer, you can reach out to info@northstarelementarypto.org.
We look forward to celebrating reading with you!

Read-A-Thon
2027/2027 North Star Navigators Read-A-Thon
📚 February 12–26, 2026
Get ready to curl up with a good book. North Star PTO is excited to kick off our upcoming Read-A-Thon, a February celebration all about sharing the love of reading.
Our Read-A-Thon begins Friday, February 12, 2026. This event is designed to get students excited about reading while giving friends and family a simple and meaningful way to cheer them on.
❤️ Your Reader's Personal Page
About one week before the Read-A-Thon begins, students will bring home instructions for activating their personal reading page. This page allows families to track reading progress, celebrate milestones, and share reading goals with loved ones near and far.
Families may activate their reader’s account at any time by visiting: (link coming soon!)
and following the easy steps.
We chose Read-A-Thon because it fits easily into busy family schedules, encourages daily reading, and helps build strong and confident readers in a fun, positive way.
❤️ Upcoming Events to Keep the Momentum Going
To help build excitement and keep the reading momentum going, we have two special events coming up in February:
❤️ Book Swap: February 10, 5:30 to 7:00 PM at North Star Elementary
Join us for a fun community evening centered on sharing the love of reading. Starting today, students are invited to bring gently used books to the front office. During the Book Swap, students can “shop” for new-to-them favorites.
❤️ Screen Free Week: February 22 through February 26
Screen Free Week takes place during our Read-A-Thon and is a great opportunity to unplug, enjoy family time, and make space for reading at home.
We hope all families will join us in making February a month full of stories, imagination, and reading fun.
Thanks for helping us share the love of reading,
North Star PTO
Keep an eye out for more details, and thank you for supporting our school!

Screen-Free Week
A healthy childhood depends on a surprising thing: play! Through creative play, kids explore their physical world, build their curiosity, and expand their imaginations. Screen-Free Week allows families and communities to come together and connect. This year, we are excited to bring you Screen Free Week, February 22 - 26, which aligns nicely with our Read-a-Thon fundraiser.
What is Screen-Free Week?
Screen-Free Week encourages students to unplug from digital screens and explore fun, creative activities like reading, playing, and spending time with family. Students will complete pledge cards and track their screen-free days. Make sure your student turns in their pledge card with the screen-free days to their teacher.

STEAM Student Showcase Invitation
We’re thrilled to invite students to participate in the STEAM Student Showcase during our upcoming STEAM Night at North Star Elementary!
Project Guidelines
We encourage a wide variety of STEAM projects, whether they are traditional science experiments, creative art installations, or innovative engineering designs. This is a chance for students to engage in hands-on learning and share their efforts in a fun, supportive environment.
Project Size: To ensure there is enough space for everyone, we recommend that students bring manageable-sized projects. For larger projects, a photo or diagram can be displayed instead.
Project Categories: Students may present anything from experiments, LEGO structures, models, artwork, and technology demonstrations, to coding projects or engineering designs.
Project Form: If your student would like to participate, please complete the Student Showcase Form (link coming soon!) to help us plan accordingly.
Submission and Set-Up: Students can drop off their projects during the school day on March 10th or arrive 30 minutes before STEAM Night to set up their display. There will be tables and bookshelves for each student’s project, ensuring a designated space for all participants.
Project Collection: At the end of the evening, families are responsible for picking up their child’s project.
